Google invests in power loss reduction
Google invests in Transphorm company that wants to reduce energy losses in areas ranging from cars to electric and solar panels.
Google Ventures funds attracted 20 billion dollars for Transphorm. In total the company, founded in 2007, has raised funds worth 38 billion dollars. Some companies also include investors Kleiner Perkins, Foundation Capital and Lux Capital.
Transphorm will announce its first product next month. It seems that the company has found a more effective way to transform alternating current into direct current. It is estimated that during this conversion, with current technologies, 10% of electricity is lost. A new method of conversion, working Transphorm, could reduce these losses by 90%.
